The multi-faceted academic program offered by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
includes education for medical students, interns, residents, and fellows. Continuing medical
education for physicians is also offered. Obstetric and gynecologic education consists of
instruction at all levels of participation -- outpatient clinics, labor and delivery,
operating rooms, inpatient areas, and laboratories -- with active resident participation
under proper supervision. Research opportunities are available in the areas of gynecology,
gynecologic endocrinology, urogynecology, gynecologic oncology, family planning,
maternal-fetal medicine, genetics, and ethics. Subspecialty fellowships are available in
maternal-fetal medicine and family planning. Continuing medical education includes weekly
grand rounds and other special programs offered throughout the year.
